I’m certain that I’ve said it before, but, if not, I’ll reply it here. I am firmly convinced taht your attitude is a extremely key component in cooperation to your quality of life, and, to your capability to - in balance - effectively manage your Chronic Illness!
And, with this in mind, my advice is to increase hobbies. Inside your hobbies, keep in mind to contribute to with others, specially the “guides” inside your hobbies, your thanks for their input. For example: conceivably you come to a decision that you desire to turn out to be a huge cook, along with exercise Martha Stewart as a model. Behind you dook something, using one of her recipies along with accept rave reviews from your “eaters”, write Martha a thank you email otherwise letter! It’ll make in cooperation of you suffer hence a great deal better.
For me, I love reading. And, when I end a volume that I really love, I go to the Author’s website along with agree to him/her know, along with thank them. A large amount yet write back! I yet got an autographed “drink coaster” from one, along with am going to be a “reader reviewer” of one of my favorite author’s upcoming book, as it is in draft.
I’ve copied below the thank-you email that I now sent to an author hence that you can see what one looks like. Look forward to you as well like a hobby along with thank individuals who inspire you.
Dear Mr. Katzenbach:
Not certain why I now found you, except am soooo glad that I did! The Madman’s Tale is the third volume of yours that I have read, along with now finished it. (Started with State of Mind, followed by The Analyst). Loved State of Mind; liked the technical structure of The Analyst, except thought it was as well sad - he was soooo isolated - except REALLY LOVED THE MADMAN’S TALE!!
I am a voracious reader (I’ve been “managing” Multiple Sclerosis for more 45 years, along with at present come across myself on complete time Disability) particularly of books of intrigue. I find, however, that increasingly I need novels that keep me invested inside the book. If the story is as well predictable, it now doesn’t “hook me”.
You, sir, have a marvelous mastery of phraseology; your lyrical prose paints pictures hence accurately that I found myself in the Hospital along with Lucy, Peter along with Francis!! I have obtained, along with will study next, Hart’s War - the book, along with not the movie. I desire to observation my OWN mental movie through your words!
Couldn’t assist except document, along with contribute to back with you, a little of my favorite phrases from The Madman’s Tale. These specific phrases were hence eloquent; they hence accurately depicted an emption, otherwise a feeling, or, in the holder of Francis, hence clearly defined, in my humble opinion, (IMHO) SPECIFICALLY WHAT IT MEANS TO BE “HUMAN”, that I couldn’t assist except agree to you know now how your words affected me! Your prose kept me reading EVERY WORD, along with not now skimming to catch the thread of the story, hurrying to “who done it”!
Many authors can describe events, action, places along with things, along with a little can capture the superficial quality of the characters. What I come across unique on you, Mr. K., is your capability to capture the essence of every character’s “ghestalt”; raison d’etre (sp?); unique personality; and, how every in cooperation taps into the collective humanity, so far stands uniquely apart from it.
1) pg 168: “When I imagine back, I can see hence lots of minute things that should have meant something….I was young, along with I didn’t comprehend that crime is like all the mechanical parts of a transmission. Bolts along with nuts, screws along with pins, all meshing collectively to create a self-contained momentum that travels forward, controlled by forces that are a minute like the wind; invisible, so far leaving signs in a piece of scrap paper that suddenly takes flight along with dashes down the sidewalk, otherwise a tree branch being tugged frist one way, afterward the next, otherwise merely the far-away gloomy storm clouds scudding crosswise an ominous sky.”
2) pg 200: “We are all defined by the dark, I thought. Anybody can portray whatever thing in the daylight. Except it is barely at night, behind the earth had closed in, that our accurate selves come out.”
3) pgs 218 & 219: “Sometime soon after that day, otherwise maybe behind the next, except certainly at a little end through the steady procession of mad folks being escorted into Lucy Jones’s office, it occurred to me that I had in no way really been a part of incredible before…..As a child, not being able to join in is a poor thing. Maybe the worst…..In all individuals years, I was in no way once invited to a birthday party. In no way asked to a sleepover. Not once shoved into the back of a situation wagon for an off-the-cuff journey to Friendly’s for an ice-cream sundae. I in no way got a phone call at night to gossip on school otherwise sports otherwise who had kissed whom behind the seventh grade dance…..My days was unique because of the absence of all individuals minute things that make up each person else’s normalcy.”
4) pg 269: “But that wasn’t the valid terrain of every housing unit. The contours along with topography were really defined by all the variety of madnesses contained within.” (Note: this one REALLY resonated with me, as I was a Individual Resources Executive for more 30 being ahead of I went on Disability. Whenever I walked into a room, I took deliberate “stock” of the temperature of the room; of the currents along with eddies swirling around; of who was bouncing off of whom, etc. I’ve now in no way seen it articulated as you have done!)
5) page 326: IMHO, this is the depiction that separates someone like Francis who can be “crazy”, so far is static humane, from a sociopath! I loved how you phrased it!! “All my life, all I wanted was to be normal. Yet tortured, like Peter along with Lucy were, except normal. Able to modestly function in the outside world, like the simplest of things…..But I couldn’t, because I knew, right in that moment, that I would forever be doomed to be closer in force along with action to the man I hated along with the man that scared me. The Angel was giving in along with luxuriating in all the murderous wickedness thoughts that lurked inside me. He was a amusing house mirror version of myself. I had the same rage. The same desire. The same evil. I had now concealed it, shunted it away, thrown it into the deepest hole inside me that I might come across along with wrap it up with every mad thought, like boulders along with dirt, hence that it was buried where I hoped it might in no way burst forth.”
In these few words, you clearly articulated the essence of “free will”. AND, IMHO, now why Idol gave us humans free of charge will. He wants us to control our baser, wickedness urges, along with do what is “right” through choice, not through coersion.
You have succeeded in depicting the essence of being “acceptable”; of being acknowledged as a individual being, with “rights” to exist. And, behind all, that’s what all humans survive their existence for; just to be acknowledged as existing.
Well, I’ve taken up as well a great deal of your time. If you desire to exercise my words as a review of your volume anywhere, please suffer free of charge to do so.
Also, if you yet need to a reader to study an ARC of your novel book(s), I’d be delighted to do so.
THANKS, again, for lots of enjoyable hours! I’ll almost certainly be writing you over behind I end Hart’s War!
